Paradise Landscapes had the privilege to design and install landscaping and irrigation for a charming new home in beautiful downtown New Braunfels. The homeowners were desiring a tropical themed low maintenance design with the need for deer resistant plants in the front yard due to roaming deer in the neighborhood. They also expressed minimizing the front yard lawn area and no grass in the backyard. The large trees in the front yard provided afternoon shade and would require plants tolerant of partial shade.
He listened to our request to design a drought-tolerant and deer-resistant landscape plan and stayed within our budget. Bryan is honest, hardworking, and pays utmost attention to every detail.
We choose a plant palette of mostly compact plants noted for their low maintenance and deer tolerance. Some of the front yard plants include Viburnum, Dwf. Yaupon Holly, Variegated Ginger, Bicolor Iris, Blue Plumbago, and Mealy Blue Sage. Zoysia grass was selected for the lawn appropriate for partial shade, drought tolerance, and beauty. Flagstone stepping stones were incorporated into the landscaping providing a walkway from garage to front entrance. While the front yard emphasis was on creating curb appeal and an inviting front entrance, the backyard would function for entertaining guest poolside. The design included a custom Flagstone patio providing a gathering place for guests. The pool waterfall was a nice backdrop for tropical plants and flowering evergreens along the fence provided many colors. Backyard plants include Indian Hawthorn, Purple Fringe, Dwarf Nandina, Yellow Esperanza, Pride of Barbados, Thryallis. A commercial grade weed barrier and 1-½” River rock was installed for low maintenance purposes. All landscaping is complete with a water-efficient irrigation system. The grass is irrigated with spray heads equipped with high efficiency, matched precipitation rate nozzles. All plants are irrigated with a drip line.
