A recently renovated office building on Landa Street was in need of a landscape design and installation. After consulting with the owner, two things were very apparent. Paradise Landscapes needed to incorporate Knock Out Roses in the design and a small area streetside needed to be installed with a beautiful, lush grass. He explained that the other existing grass areas were installed be a previous landscaper and were not up to his expectations, despite proper maintenance practices. I understood his concerns and assured him that I would only install the appropriate grass variety for the specific site conditions. I began by creating a plant palette for the three beautifully constructed planters located along the building side.
The building wall was a neutral color with maroon trim. I chose red Knock Out Roses to add a nice pop of color. Purple Fringe plants complemented the maroon trim. While many of the plants were chosen for their vibrant flowers, others were chosen for their supporting role of being evergreen for year-round interest. I selected Zoysia grass for the small area in need of grass. This was because of its lush bold green color characteristics. Shortly after grass establishment, the owner contacted me to express his gratitude for the new grass and requested that I remove the other existing grass areas and replace with Zoysia.
